Ghazala Salam is a dynamic leader in the museum and nonprofit sectors, with over two decades of experience driving innovative cultural initiatives. As the Co-Founder of Beyond Horizons, a state-of-the-art cultural initiative and museum of Muslim Arts & Culture, Ghazala is on a mission to bridge the human divide through immersive storytelling and transformative experiences.
Her vision for Beyond Horizons reflects her passion for fostering empathy, understanding, and social cohesion. Under her leadership, the project is leveraging cutting-edge technology to illuminate untold narratives, celebrate shared human experiences, and create a global hub for art, culture, and education.
Previously, Ghazala served as the Director of the International Museum of Muslim Cultures and the Executive Director of the Dunedin History Museum. Her professional journey has been shaped by her commitment to addressing systemic discrimination, amplifying marginalized voices, and building bridges across diverse communities.
In addition to her museum leadership, Ghazala is a seasoned nonprofit executive and a thought leader in cultural equity and inclusion. She has a proven track record of securing funding, forming strategic partnerships, and creating sustainable cultural institutions that inspire future generations.
