About me
Marise McDermott has over 30 years of experience in museums and cultural arts roles ranging from director, curator, editor, journalist, and board chair. Recently transitioning as President & CEO of the Witte Museum, she led the organization for 20 years, including a $100 million transformation of the museum and campus expansion in addition to overseeing a successful $100 million endowment campaign. She is currently chair of the AAM Accreditation Commission, as well as being actively engaged in several San Antonio tourism boards, including Visit San Antonio, San Antonio Visitor Alliance, and the Chamber of Commerce, among other community leadership roles. Marise has spoken at a number of regional and discipline-specific conferences and been the recipient of many local and state awards, most recently named as the 2023 Texas Association of Museums Jack Nokes Outstanding Service Award Honoree.
