Barbara-Shae Jackson, PhD, is a social scientist specializing in the intersection of race, the arts, and equity. She collaborates with cultural organizations on projects that address community needs, museum outcomes, and issues of equity, place, and belonging. Her work has partnered with prominent institutions such as the Barr Foundation, The Lucas Museum for Narrative Art, The City of Charlotte, and The Norman Rockwell Museum. Barbara-Shae's doctoral research on the influence of racism and cognition on art perception led to her 2017 TEDx Talk and the curation of the 2020 exhibition at the Paul R. Jones Gallery at the University of Alabama. She has published peer-reviewed papers and book chapters on racial bias and aesthetic preference.
